Manuel Bensi

Oceanographer

Manuel Bensi (1978)
Graduate in Marine Sciences at the University of Genova, Italy in 2003 and MSc.'s degree in Tropical Marine Sciences (concluded in 2006) at the Federal University of Cearà, in Brazil, where he spent nearly 3 years (2004-2006) working as researcher in a Marine Institute (www.labomar.ufc.br), and where my principal research projects were applications of ADCP in coastal and estuarine areas, studies about coastal management and consulting in oceanography and coastal environment.
In April 2006 he returned to Italy where he has collaborated with a private owned meteo consulting company specialized in providing accurate and personalized meteo forecasting (www.navimeteo.eu) and he has worked as researcher at the NATO Undersea Research Centre, located in La Spezia, Italy, where he participated in a project about analysis of very shallow water current data collected in Porto Ferro (Sardinia island, Italy) by some acoustical current meters.
His research interests are in meteorology, water masses dynamics, wave climate, and studies about estuarine, coastal and offshore marine environments.
His recent works include collecting and processing of oceanographic data, waves data, comparing real data with simulated ones, processed by numerical models (MIKE 21, MIKE 3, SURFER, etc).
He has got some experiences with analysing of satellites images, using them in oceanographic studies about coastal and marine processes, including sediment transport, waves climate and erosion phenomena, integrating these data in a GIS system.
He has several experiences in marine and estuarine oceanographic surveys, including planning of the survey, collecting and post processing data.
Manuel is a very motivated person with a good skills to work in a multidisciplinary team. His hobbies are: sports (sailing, windsurfing, snowboarding, basket, swimming), music, cinema and travel.
