Born in Lodi on 28/02/1943, Doctoral degree in electrical engineering May 1969 at University of Pisa. Qualify to practise the profession of engineer. First researcher at ISMAR (Institute for Marine Science) sect. of Pozzuolo di Lerici - SP of CNR. Was Member of Scientific Council of the National Group of the Atmospheric and Oceangraphic Physics, coordinator of the subproject 'Research Vessel' within the CNR Strategic project 'Oceanography and Marine technology' and in EUROMAR project, contact person in the EUROMAR environment project EU 37, italian principal partner in the project Mast-CE 1996-1999 'Hydrothermal vents and biological production in Aegean', member of the National Research Group 'Marine engineering' Italian substitute member in the SCOR (Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research). Responsable of the ISMAR-SP operative unit in the projects 'CLIMA' from 1994 and 'BIOSESO' from 1997. Under 'CLIMA3' project (2001-2004) is the coordinator of the 'Shelf Water Production and variability' subproject. From 1994-1995 to 2006-2007 partecipated in 11 Antarctic cruises on Italica vessel and in 'Mario Zucchelli' station. Reference person for 'mooring group', scientific coordinator of the Italian oceanographic expedition in Antarctica in 2000, chief of expedition during 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 oceanographic cruises. Responsible from 1999 of 'Hydrology and water currents in the inner part of Kongsfjord' project at Svalbard islands Arctic (strategic Arctic CNR project).
